A truth we learned is as the leader grows, so does the organization. The ability to grow or stay stagnant always lies within the leader because they are the biggest constraint within the organization.
Companies like Kodak, Eastern Airlines, Circuit City, Blockbuster, and many others have gone out of business because their leadership teams either made bad decisions or lost focus on how to continually innovate.
WHY DO LEADERS STOP GROWING?
As human beings we tend to fall into patterns of thought that can help us feel consistent and secure. However, in business, being secure often means zero growth. Doing the same thing over and over again is comforting because, “it’s the way we’ve always done it around here,” but it doesn’t mean that way is the most productive or effective. Familiar is comfortable. New can be scary.
